Patriot's Pen

Every year, almost 68,800 students from sixth to eighth grade enter the VFW’s Patriots Pen youth essay contest. They compete for a chance to win part of over $1.4 million in awards. State winners get at least $500, and the national first-place winner gets $5,000. The 2024-2025 competition theme is, "My Voice in America’s Democracy?". Submission deadline is Thursday, October 31, 2024. Email your essay to VFWAzusaPost8070@gmail.com

Voice of Democracy Essay

Each year, nearly 25,000 9-12 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of more than $2 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. The national first-place winner receives $35,000 while other national scholarships range from $1,000-$21,000. The first-place winner from each VFW Department (state) wins at least $1,000. The 2024-2025 competition theme is, "Is America Today Our Forefather's Vision?" Submission deadline is Thursday, October 31, 2024. Email to VFWAzusaPost8070@gmail.com

Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.
